Book signing for 'It's Not Summer Without You'

Hey guys,

I just got back from a book signing with author Jenny Han for It's Not Summer Without You at Borders in Ann Arbor. I'm kicking myself because I should've Tweet'd you guys about it or something yesterday so my book review blogger buddies could've made it. Oh well, no sense in shoulding all over myself. 

Anyways, it was pretty cool. Ann Arbor is the first stop on her national tour for book two (It's Not Summer Without You) of the summer trilogy (The Summer I Turned Pretty is book one) which follows Belly, a teenage girl who lives for summer when she gets to spend all season at a beach house with her best friends Jeremiah and Conrad. 

Belly measures her life in summers.  Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August.  Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad.  They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer--they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between.  But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

The trilogy is chocked full of angst and summery wonderfulness. Everyone should check it out if you haven't already. Jenny read chapter two and we kind of just chatted as a group about writing, and Team Conrad vs Team Jeremiah. PS I'm Team Jeremiah.

Jenny also talked about how she's working on the final book and how it's been difficult for her to get through it because a lot of tough decisions need to be made (i.e. Belly has to pick between Beck's boys!). She said it's already suppose to be done because it's due out next summer, but it's not. Eeks! Maybe she'll be inspired on tour.
