James Franco is officially my favorite non-TWI Twi-hard

Hi TW-iends! So, I know I've left you all black-eyed and unsatisfied lately by not posting, but that's only because very exciting out-of-orbit amazing things are happening in my non-TWI life--if you can image I have one--that have kept me otherwise occupied. But when I came across this MTV interview two things were apparent: 1) I adore James Franco for actually having an articulate understanding of the series, and 2) I must share! 

Now I feel like he needs to be one of the Cullen "witnesses" in Breaking Dawn: Part 2. Which good vamp do you think he'd be best for? Garrett? Alistair? Charles?

Is Edward Cullen the Sexiest Beast?

For those of you who loyally voted for our sexified Cullens (and werewolf) throughout Entertainment Weekly’s Sexiest Beast poll over the past few weeks, you are well aware that our beloved Edward Cullen made it to the final round (was there ever a question?) against bad vamp Damon Salvator from Vampire Diaries. EW is rewarding us for all our enthusiastic voting with a Sexiest Beast issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine on August 26th which will include the winner. 

Check out the intensive bracket of badass beasties that EC and DS already beat out here . Note to self: Get job that involves sitting in a room and categorizing supernatural hotness. Call me, EW!

Summit sets the record straight on Breaking Dawn

Summit clears up a few Breaking Dawn, Eclipse DVD rumors

We’ve just received some rumor control from Summit. Read all they have to say below:

1) There is only one casting director working on THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN films right now – Deborah Zane. As of right now no local auditions are being held. If Deborah’s name is not attached to it in some form or another, it is not legitimate. She is also not putting out nationwide casting notices. Once again – as was the case with NEW MOON and ECLIPSE – any ads you see are completely false. She has set up an e-mail address specifically for casting inquiries (BreakingDawnCast@gmail.com).

2) Lexicon touched base regarding a rumor about Renesmee’s name changing in BREAKING DAWN. It is FALSE.

3) Twi Examiner asked about Riley’s appearance in BREAKING DAWN because it was listed on Xavier’s IMDb page. Riley will not appear in the BREAKING DAWN films. It is a rumor.

4) Also not confirmed is anything you have heard about the US release date of the ECLIPSE DVD. We have not announced it yet, so unless it is international and confirmed by an international distributor, it is a rumor.

This is why I don't believe anything that's not attached to an official press release. PS Whoever believed that Summit & crew were seriously considering changing Renesmee's name needs a TW-ead check.

Twilight Beauty (the TW-inspired makeup line) debuted Nox Twilight nail polish in collectible Cullen crested bottles. As someone who picks out her outfit to match her latest nail creation, this is very TW-ool. However, what's up with the color names? Debutant?  Disco Darling? And the winner for most random, Poseidon? Bella is grimacing all over these names. 

Would it have been so hard to name the red (Red Velvet) something more relevant like, oh, I don't know, blood! Disco Darling could've easily been Sparkly Vamps. Come on marketing crew. Hop to on these color names.

The Real Science Behind Sparkly Vampires

One of the most chastised elements in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga is the fact that her tough-as-nails vampires sparkle. Perhaps the masses could get over the lack of pointy teeth, and maybe even the ability to go out in the sunlight, but to sparkle when the sun hits? Blasphemy! Anne Rice making her old vamps have papery skin is one thing, but likening a killer's visage with a sparkly diamond is another thing entirely. Dracula is rolling over in his dirt-lined crypt!

But there might be solid science behind the whys. You've just got to stomach this one fact: Vampires are highly evolved insects.

I Like a Little Science in My Fiction has written an excellent post that explains how and why Meyer's vampires sparkle. It all comes down to their many buggy comparisons. The theory starts with the knowledge that most of the hematophages in the world -- a fancy word for blood eaters -- are bugs. Like fleas, vampires must feed before they reproduce, which triggers a painful metamorphosis. Like butterflies, vamps can remember things from their lowly caterpillar/human days. They're cold-blooded, and have a hard exoskeleton instead of soft, pliable skin. Their speed is like that of the super-fast Tiger Beetle, strong like the horned dung beetle, and have eyes that put our human versions to shame.

But finally -- why do they sparkle? The site posits that vampires must be like butterflies -- sometimes known to feed on blood -- who have tiny iridescent scales.
Yes, it's silly, but it also makes a whole lot of sense. So, next time you pull a Bella and gush over Edward's sparkling face and divine beauty, keep in mind -- you might be lusting for a highly evolved insect.

Props to my buddy Angela (who I personally turned to the Cullen side!) for finding this semi- creepy gem. And I don't care what anyone says, sparkles are badass!

Very cool behind the scenes with Metric on the set of their TW-abulous "I'm All Yours (Eclipse)" music video. I love (lead singer) Emily Haines. She's like a little badass sprite. And how about getting a call from Oscar winning composer Howard Shore saying "I want you to write the theme song as part of the score" embody the "voice of Bella"? Are you kidding me? Dream come true much?

HAPPY ECLIPSE DAY!!!! OK, now that that squeal is out of the way, I have a treat to hold you over until your second viewing of Eclipse.

The second music video off the Eclipse soundtrack from Metric is TW-abulous! Now, I'm not sure that Emily Haines (Metric's lead singer) held up in a cabin to pen I'm Yours--in fact I know she collaborated with composer Howard Shore to incorporate the score--but it's working for me. I'm even into the frondescent guitar. But by far the best part is the smoochalicious clips playing on an old school TV in the background. Enjoy!

''Alice is lithe, like a dancer, so we did much more of a Cirque du Soleil spin on Alice's fighting, which was really cool. I grew up with a martial-arts background, plus I did acrobatics and tae kwon do. It was great to get back to that world.''

''In the first films he doesn't have much dialogue, so we pulled it back since he's supposed to be a high school kid [in Washington] and you can't have a Texas accent. It's only when he's barking orders and leading an army that he's comfortable and the accent comes out.
