Jared Leto wants Rob Pattinson to play him

Q&A: Jared Leto
'My most embarrassing moment? It had to do with karaoke and Eye Of The Tiger'

Source

Jared Leto was born in Louisiana in 1971. He went to New York's School of Visual Arts, and in 1994 was cast opposite Claire Danes in the television series My So-Called Life. His movies include Fight Club, Requiem For A Dream and Alexander, and he put on 67lbs (more than 30kg) to play John Lennon's assassin, Mark Chapman, in Chapter 27. Next February, he will tour the UK with his band, 30 Seconds To Mars.

What is your earliest memory?Fireworks and a wolf. (Is Jared Team Jacob?! He talks about Rob so much I'd pinned him for Team Edward.)

When were you happiest? I'm hoping that hasn't happened yet.

Which living person do you most admire, and why?

Stephen Hawking – a great example of triumph in the face of adversity.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? The need to sleep.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?Sycophancy.

What was your most embarrassing moment? It had to do with karaoke and

Eye Of The Tiger.

Property aside, what's the most expensive thing you've bought?Collectively, as a band, we paid for and built our own recording studio.

What would your super power be?The power to wipe out greed.

What makes you unhappy? Obvious and uncontrollable machiavellian tendencies.

What do you most dislike about your appearance? The computer chip in the back of my brain.

If you could bring something extinct back to life, what would you choose?

Megalodon.

Who would play you in the film of your life? Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron, Gary Coleman or Christopher Walken. (My uber obvious vote is for Rob. LOL)
What is your most unappealing habit? A relentless pursuit of perfection.

What is your favourite smell? A campfire.

What is your favourite book?

The Catcher In The Rye.

What would be your fancy dress costume of choice? Authentic period

Genghis Khan body armour or the original Ziggy Stardust outfit.

What is the worst thing anyone's said to you? Anything that is a lie.

Cat or dog?Wolf. (Again with the wolf...)

What is your guiltiest pleasure? Art.

What do you owe your parents? My blood and bones.

To whom would you most like to say sorry, and why? The planet, for the horrible way we have all treated it.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party? God, the devil – and

Natalie Portman.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? "One more time…"

What is the worst job you've done?Dishwasher when I was 12.

When did you last cry, and why?It was a fight with some onions. I lost.

What is the closest you've come to death? It had to do with a gun and some cocaine. The golden days of youth…

What song would you like played at your funeral? Sigur Rós Untitled #1 or anything by Aphex Twin.

How would you like to be remembered? I wouldn't.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you? That many things are not as big a deal as they seem in the moment.

These answers are so wonderfully Jared that I can't take it. I think my fav is "God, the Devil--and Natalie Portman." LOL PS the Sigur Rós song is simply beautiful!

'Up in the Air' lives up to its hype

I'm going to be straight forward on this one: Go see Up in the Air . Today. Beside the fact that it's written by Jason Reitman (Juno and Thank You for Smoking), George Clooney, Anna Kendrick (That's right, one of our favorite TWI humans.) and Vera Famiga give some of the best acting performances all year--and that's saying something seeing as there's only four days left in 2009.

I'm still sucking the last drops of nectar from the feeling I had when I left the theater on xmas. What feeling, you ask. It was a feeling of being, to risk sounding ridiculous and obvious, up in the air.

Christmas Treat from TWI-Session

I've definitely posted this before, but it's so unbearably funny that I had to re-post as a best of interview/Christmas treat for all my TWI-iends. Enjoy, AOOWW!!! LOL You'll get that after you see the vid.

The difference between Rob & Kristen & Taylor

This really just puts out there how different Rob & Kristen are (in my humble opinion). I think I already posted the one of Rob awhile back, but I wanted you to be able to compare the two. And, of course, I had to include Taylor as well. PS His answer is probably the closest to what mine would be. I'd pick some band. Can you guess which??

Taylor's "stocking of truth"

Kristen's "stocking of truth"

Rob's "stocking of truth"

So let's see, Kristen gets all intellectual on us, Taylor is just cute as a button, per usual, and Rob--after much thought--selects a man to kiss under the mistletoe. And not even a hot one! LOL After hearing each actor's "stocking of truth" who would you rather spend xmas break hanging out with? I say Rob. He's so silly, and I love to laugh.

New Moon's CGI Wolves

Source:CGI Society
Tippett Studio Jumps to the Head of The Pack with CGI Wolves a Howling Success
10 December 2009, by Renee Dunlop

As the New Moon rises, so do the stars at Tippett Studio. Charged with creating the Quileute Wolf Pack for the Twilight sequel, some of the industries leading character artists sunk their teeth into just under 60 shots ranging from three to twelve seconds that were pivotal to the storyline. And those shots are getting noticed.

Wolf Mountain and Frankenwolf

The challenge wasn't just to build a believable wolf, but to build five unique wolves of extraordinary size and weight, to portray that mass often with little more than the surrounding trees as comparisons, create believable fur and humanesque eyes that weren't distracting. Nate Fredenburg, Art Director, helped to make sure those requirements were fulfilled, combining real-world attributes and CG magic. "At Tippett Studio, we always look to real-life creatures for reference on how to design our characters, real or mythical. For New Moon, we had a special opportunity to travel down to wolf sanctuary in Southern California to observe wolves up close and personal."

"We had a bunch of photographs of wolves that we were studying but Phil [Tippett] was insisting that we take it to the next level and have something to touch, walk around, and actually do your own," explained Fredenburg. This resulted in the creation of what became affectionately known as the "Frankenwolf".

Tippett bought wolf pelts and cut them up with an Exacta knife and pasted it onto a taxidermy blank "so that we could do a lighting lab in two conditions..."

Hair Raising

One of the key observations we made at
Wolf Mountain was the complexity of the fur. From nose to tail the fur quality changes, prompting the painters to create a zone chart of the animal that divided the wolf up into fur zones; on the nose and the legs the hair was short and velvet, on the neck the mane was thick and long, belly clumped and long, the back more medium length while the tail was bushy. The coloring was not only unique over the length of the body, but the hair follicle had unique color ticking from root to tip.

"Even with as far as computing power has come," said Fredenburg "it still is very difficult to accurately mimic real life, so everything we do to come up with our fur look is an approximation, a cheat. It's not about replicating a wolf hair for hair; it's about getting the feel of a wolf. Even though we pushed 4 million hairs on this show, which is twice what we normally grow, it is still not nearly the number of hairs a real wolf has."

Wolf coloration is rather complicated due to the multiple color changes, not only across the body but down the length of the hair. A grey wolf might have dark roots and a white band in the middle and a brownish tip, yet add it all up and you have a salt and pepper look.

Keep Your Shirt On

The wolves also had to switch from human to wolf form and back again, creating some humorous situations. Tom Gibbons, Animation Supervisor, got a chuckle out of the young wolf shape-shifting process and the dilemma it created. They wanted to approach this in complete opposition to the way they did it in American Werewolf in London, which highlighted a long protracted painful metamorphose.

In
Twilight, it's very fast, it happens in half a second. "In the blink of an eye the boys explode into wolf forms. When you first become a werewolf, you are not very good at controlling it. What happens is, these kids explode into wolves and destroy their clothes and shoes, and when they transfer back, they don't have any clothes and have to go get more. It's kind of like hitting puberty or something, as these boys mature from human boys into shape shifting into werewolves and not being able to do it very well, which is the perfect metaphor for everything that is adolescent."

There is a great deal of ribbing among the digital wolf pack as well as what was observed at Wolf Mountain. "That is exactly the way wolf packs work. There is a lot of rough and tumble challenging play fight all the time."

Phew, that was a lot of information. Super wolfy-tastic though, right? To read the full article click here .

30STM videos from The Night 89x Stole Xmas

As promised, here are the videos I scammed with my camera at last Friday's The Night 89x Stole Christmas aka the night I met 30 Second to Mars! I have to apologize because they're pretty janky lookin', but I told you I'd share, so here they are.

"Night of the Hunter"

Jared had to talk down some rowdy fans right before an acoustic set. Before I got my camera out he said "We've got some f*$#ing drama up front." It was pretty damn funny.

Jared climbed in the crowd as per usual during "The Kill." And, yes, that is me screaming. LOL

A 30 Seconds to Mars Movie in the works

30 Seconds To Mars Plans To 'Extend The Interactivity' On Tour

This Is War
30 Seconds to Mars

30 Seconds to Mars plans to "extend the interactivity" of its new album, "This Is War," when the group tours in 2010, according to frontman Jared Leto.

The 12-song set was marked by two elaborate fan projects: The Summit, which used thousands of 30 Seconds faithful for backing vocals, stomps and handlaps on several of the albums' tracks, including the single "Kings and Queens;" and Faces of Mars, for which some 2,000 fans submitted photos that have been used as album covers. Leto tells Billboard.com that he's planning to launch another Faces of Mars campaign in the new year for later pressings of the album.

And when the group, which finishes a short run of radio festivals and theater dates on Dec. 19 in Cleveland, hits the road in earnest next year -- in mid-February in Europe and late March in North America -- it will "build upon that and have an interactive element for these live shows that's kind of unlike anything that's ever been done before, we're hoping," Leto says.

"We're plotting and planning," he adds. "It's all about technology and time and the ability to pull these things off schematically. I think what's interesting is using new technologies to enhance the idea of communication and to further community. I'm always interested in where the online meets the offline. We look forward to operating a lot more in that space in the future."

"This Is War" debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard 200, selling 67,000 copies in its first week -- a better showing than 2005's "A Beautiful Lie," which sold 21,000 copies when it was released but went on to sell more than 1.2 million. Leto says 30 Seconds to Mars has been pleasantly surprised by the shows it's played so far, particularly after a long absence from the scene.

"We were really prepared to have to kind of re-set and start from the beginning again," he notes, "and we've just found a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of excitement, a lot of people who haven't seen us in a long time coming back out to the shows. It feels really great. It's been a lot of fun."

Leto says the new year will also bring a 30 Seconds to Mars film, tentatively titled "Artifact," about the making of "This Is War." "We're still editing and shooting," says Leto, whose next feature film, the science fiction story "Mr. Nobody," is due to open in the first half of 2010. "We have 3,000 hours of footage, and it's been pretty interesting. We've been following everything from the birth of a song, 'Kings and Queens,' to" the album's release. Leto hopes to preview the piece at the Sundance Film Festival in late January and release it by fall.

There was a camera crew behind sign table at The Night 89x Stole Christmas. Maybe I'll be in the movie looking completely dazzled by the Leto boys. I hope I am just so I can see what my dazzled face looks like. LOL

"Post Jared coitus"

I'm posting these lyrics for no reason other than that they are delicious and I am still "post Jared coitus" as a friend described my behavior right after I met 30STM on Friday.

30 Seconds To Mars, Night Of The Hunter Lyrics

I was born of the womb of a poisonous spell
Beaten and broken and chased from the lair
But I rise up above it, high up above it and see

I was hung from the tree made of tongues of the weak
The branches were bones of liars and thieves
Rise up above it, high up above and see

Pray to your god, open your heart
Whatever you do, don't be afraid of the dark
Cover your eyes, the devil inside
One night of the hunter
One day I will get revenge
One night to remember
One day it'll all just end, oh

(Un, deux, trois, cinq)
Blessed by a bitch from a bastard's seed
Pleasure to meet you but prepare to bleed
Rise, I'll rise, I'll rise
Skinned her alive, ripped her apart
Scattered her ashes, buried her heart
Rise up above it, high up above and see

Pray to your god, open your heart
Whatever you do, don't be afraid of the dark

Cover your eyes, the devil inside
One night of the hunter
One day I will get revenge
One night to remember
One day it'll all just end, oh

Honest to God I'll break your heart
Tear you to pieces and rip you apart
Honest to God I'll break your heart
Tear you to pieces and rip you apart
Honest to God I'll break your heart
Tear you to pieces and rip you apart
Honest to God I'll break your heart
Tear you to pieces and rip you apart

One night of the hunter
One day I will get revenge
One night to remember
One day it'll all just end, oh
(Je te crains comme le diable)

OMJ (that J is for Jared this time.) PS The translation for sexy french girl's line at the end is: I fear you as the devil. Why is that so hot?!? All that and a Kanye beat! Kudos (as per usual) boys of 30! Thanks for the "experience" at Friday's concert in Detroit, signing my lame crumpled piece of paper, telling me you'll "see me next time" and that you liked my shirt (Jared) and for the fist bump (Shannon).

PPS I swear the 30STM concert vids I scammed with my camera will be up next week. You'll be able to see Jared surf the crowd and talk down a couple rowdy man fans soon, promise.

5 More 'New Moon' Secrets

5 more New Moon secrets from Chris Weitz via Entertainment Weekly to add to yesterday's list. Scroll down two posts for secrets 1-5.

6. Tower of glower
‘’You can see Volterra’s tower and the red-cloaked revelers from the festival of San Marco on the cover of Bella’s copy of Romeo and Juliet when she wakes up in her bedroom.'’

7. Hope it was a rental…
‘’In the wolf-fight, we purposely knocked over the camera when the wolves tumble towards it; you can also hear the microphone thumping, as if an actual on-set animal had run into the camera and boom.'’

8. Quileute culture
‘’When prepping to visualize Jacobs and Emily’s houses, production designer David Brisbin and his team visited La Push and met the Quileute executive council. While they were there, a young Quileute girl gave David the first drum she made (this is a Quileute custom). To show appreciation, we decided to put the drum in a prominent shot — it’s at the entrance of Emily’s house, and you see it when Bella first enters. Also, the high pitched ‘call’ that Embry and J
ared give when they jump out of Bella’s car is a thing the Quileute kids do.'’

9. Waxing romantic
‘’The reason the moon phases ‘backwards’ to reveal the title is that this is scientifically correct! I moderated an astrophysics seminar for the Science and Entertainment Exchange with noted astronomer Neil DeGrasse Tyson and he complained about the number of films that get simple science wrong. (Don’t ask me to justify vampires or werewolves).'’

10. That’s Italian!
‘’In the Volturi chamber, Aro speaks Italian — ‘La Tua Cantante’ should be easy for readers of the books — he’s referring to Bella’s being Edward’s ’singer,’ whose blood calls out to him stronger than anyone else’s. Later, when Bella tells him that he doesn’t know anything about Edward’s soul, he replies, ‘Fore … ne il vostro l’uno o altro’ — ‘Perhaps … nor yours either.”’

Finally, we know what Aro said! Now if the Quileutes would just get back to me, we'd have all the NM translations down. I think these were ever cooler than the first five. What do you guys think?

OMFE, I MET JARED LETO!!!!!!!

I'm not going to skirt around this. Last night...I met JARED LETO!!!!!!!!! and 30SECONDS TO MARS!!!!! That's me (to the left) with their "signatures." I went to The Night 89x Stole Christmas last night to see Flyleaf & 30Seconds to Mars and the rest is giddy fan girl history. You have to understand, I've seen them [30STM] three other times and they always stay after to sign, but never stay more than an hour and the line is always around the building- literally! There was an incident at Taste of Chaos a few years back when I was ten people away- I could've jumped and landed on them!- and they just up and left before I got a chance to meet them. Serious bummer.

NEwayz, that is not how last night ended. The story is long and involved and fully of bubbly rhetoric and reminiscent giggles (most of t
hem in the shower this morning), so I'll give the you the Cliff's Notes version. The boys I went with ditched me to go get food because the line was "too long" and we would "never get through before they bailed." HA! Wrong! Two minutes after they left I was five feet away from the band as they walked past the crowd to access the balcony. I did my typical- an uncontrollable, I might add- gasp and screamed JARED!!! Then the rest of the line caught wind- could it have been my insanely loud squeal?- and they [30STM] ran upstairs.

I wasn't allowed to take pictures with the band :( but I snuck this shot of them at the table.

Jared's wearing gloves, I'm guessing, because he was sick that night. I don't know why Tomo had them on. Maybe he was sick too...? Regardless, it unfortunately kept me from touching Jared. That could have been the real reason. LOL BUT I did fist bump with Shannon who was sans latex!!!! It wasn't even me- he just up and offered the fist. How do you say no to a Leto boy? After meeting two, I tell you now, you do not!

The way they look at you...and their whispery coos as they gaze into your starstruck eyes... My god, I would've done anything they told me to do. Jared could've said "Push that girl off the balcony" and I would've done it, turned back to him and asked "What's next?" I swear, it was hypnotic. Borderline Cullen-esque. I'm not exaggerating. It was almost like meeting Edward Cullen. And I'm not talking Rob; I'm talking Edward. But, then again, I've always said Jared should've been Carlise or a member of the Volturi.

Wish all of you could've been there to share it with me. It was AMAZING! PS do you see how none of the band members are looking at the fans in that picture? Well, they never stopped staring at me! HAHA, Best night ever! I have vids I will post later too. Now I'm off to my friend's xmas party that I was suppose to leave for two hours ago. Sorry, Deb.

5 'New Moon' Secrets

How I can possibly post anything before I explain what happened to me last night is beyond me, but here it goes. (Don't worry the next post will fill you in on last night.)

EW: 'New Moon' Exclusive: Chris Weitz Reveals Five Secrets in the Film!

1. Hidden wolves
''Look for an upside-down engraving of a wolf in the shot of the bowl in which Carlisle burns his first-aid equipment; on Jacob's T-shirt when he meets Bella in the school parking lot for the first time; and a wolf trinket on the dream-catcher that he gives her.''

2. Vampire elevator music
''When Edward, Bella, and Alice get into the elevator on their way to see the Volturi, the music playing in the elevator is from Strauss' Die Fledermaus (a.k.a. The Bat).''

3. Emotional baggage?
''When Bella is looking for the meadow where she and Edward are seen lying down together, she carries a golden compass clipped to her backpack — part of my baggage!''

4. Speedy suitor
''We did a little trick when Edward gets out of Bella's truck and they're arguing. We wanted to show Edward moving impossibly quickly, so we put Rob right next to the camera but out of sight, and used a double dressed like Rob in the driver's seat. When Edward gets out, it's the double, and then Rob steps in front of the camera, and it looks as if he got there faster than humanly possible.''

5. Look it up
''And last but not least: If you want to know what Jacob says before he almost kisses Bella, ask a Quileute! The address of the Quileute tribal council is quileutenation.org. I can tell you this much: He says, Kwop kilawtley.''

Want more? Come back to EW.com tomorrow for five more New Moon secrets from director Chris Weitz.

PS I did ask a Quileute and am waiting to hear back on a translation. You'll be the first to know when I've got one.

As much as I love, love, love 'Possibility' by Lykke Li- especially the heart wrenching scene it plays against in New Moon (October...November...December- tear)- my vote has to be 'Through the Trees' by Low Shoulder aka Test your Reflex from Jennifer's Body. Everyone knows I have a soft spot (albeit gushy and blood stained) in my heart for Diablo Cody's box office flopette J-Bod. Take a listen to both and let me know what you think.

'Through the Trees' from Jennifer's Body. The video is a NM fanmade! Just to make sure you wouldn't be bias.

PS If have not seen Jennifer's Body, shame on you! It was Jawbreaker meets Juno. Come on, you didn't want to see that?!?

Downey Jr. is officially on my list

As if Robert Downey Jr. wasn't already on my radar after the comeback kid dealt out Iron Man, Tropic Thunder (he was the only saving grace in that sinking ship of a good idea gone terribly awry) & Fur - Just kidding! Now it's officially on. Meaning: he's on my list. If you know what I mean. And I'm not just talking DLFs here. His witty quips can banter me any day!

Excuse me while I enjoy some vintage Downey by watching Less than Zero ...

Charming interview with Charlie Bewley

You will be thinking maybe Team Demetrie wouldn't be so bad after this charming interview with Charlie Bewley.

Jacob's & Bella's story fanmade

My solemn swear that this will NOT lead to a flurry of fanmades. I just really loved all the tender Jacob moments in this one. Enjoy!
